Almost missed putting this post up in January, but I just made it. […]
Motor Trend article comparing the Volvo 1800E, AMC AMX, and Datsun 240Z

Back in the fall of 2012, Motor Trend published an article looking at the differences between the European, American, and Japanese ideas of what a sports car should be at the beginning of the 70s. They selected a 1971 Volvo 1800E (the last variant and the last year of the successful P1800 series coupe, the 1800ES was to continue another year), a 1969 AMC AMX, and the outstandingly successful Datsun 240Z. tl;dr: the Datsun nailed what it meant to be a sports car in the new era. Before restoration

It probably goes without saying that since I own a Volvo 1800S I also collect the old dealer brochures from the 60s that extol its virtues. Of course they’re great for the marketing spiel, pictures, and technical details of the car, but also for the most fabulous 60s fashion and hair dos. Absolutely amazing, very trendy. […]
New gauges for the Volvo 1800S
on Tue 1-Jan-2013 at 6:39 PM in Maintenance tags: gauges with No Comments
During the latter part of June and the beginning of July, while I was on business travel (and the wildfires threatened Colorado Springs), 64SAINT was at Concours Cars having its annual service and makeover. This time it was the gauges (tachometer, oil and water temperature, speedometer, fuel gauge, oil pressure, and clock) that needed to be refurbished or renovated and replaced. As there was also a split in the dashboard cover, that was replaced as well. […]
