I’ve talked about this before – as a kid I watched The Saint with Roger Moore on the telly: Simon Templar drove a Volvo P1800 and I therefore wanted one – but in this video from Petrolicious John Patterson articulates the joy of owning one in a way that resonates with how I feel about it. The lines, the shape, the 60s craftmanship, the fun, the quirks. People give you thumbs up, they come and talk to you about it in the parking lot, they’ve never seen one before. It’s not ostentatious: it’s a Volvo.

Mind you, it’s also amazing that he lives on the Hawai’ian island of Kauai with this car. I’d love to be able to drive to the beach in mine. Without driving 1,000 miles first, of course…
