What’s not to like: a beautiful sunny blue-skied late October day, my wife at a retreat in Glen Eyrie, and … she forgot something, so could I bring it to her? Pretty please? No sweat: it would make an ideal opportunity to do one of the last drives this year in 64SAINT before it goes into its winter hideaway, and in doing so an ideal opportunity to take a couple of photos in front of the castle.

Glen Eyrie is, well, wacky, or even, well wacky. It was built by General Palmer in 1903, who famously made his fortune founding Colorado Springs. It’s a tudor–style castle in a 800-acre estate with lots of other buildings and lodges dotted around. These days it’s owned by The Navigators, and they run it for conferences, retreats, and the like. As it happens, I visited it a long time ago, a good dozen years or more, and thought that it would make a good backdrop for 64SAINT.

Not too bad, although unfortunately the best places for the car were in shade with the castle in full sunlight. Still, pretty good, considering.
