My name is Julian M Bucknall. I own a 1964 Volvo 1800S whose name is 64SAINT, the 64 for the year, and the SAINT for the TV series of the same name from the 60s, starring Roger Moore. The Saint's car was a white 1800S and when you are a pre-teen watching your hero on TV, you want the same car as him when you grow up. Well, I grew up and eventually bought one, a red one. I had to sell that one because I moved to the States, and now I've purchased another: 64SAINT.
Although I own said Volvo, I cheerfully admit I'm no good at maintaining it myself. Not even oil changes. I write software for a career: I don't do hardware. A local garage, Concours Cars, do all the maintenance for me, they are brilliant at it.
A quick bit of background to the car. It was originally registered on August 17, 1964 to a Henry Davis, Jr, in Mobile, Alabama (he traded in an MGB for it). Mr Davis, as far as I can gather, kept it until the early 2000s. I believe someone then bought the car and had it refurbished, including a down-to-the-metal respray from white to red. I have photos from 2003 that show the work and the finished result. Then, in 2005, the car was sold to a car collector in California who bought it for his wife, but said wife wasn't too enamored of it. Fast forward to 2010 with the car being not much driven at all and I bought it off the car collector's nephew and shipped it to Colorado. I have been driving it ever since.
